Occupying several late-19th century houses, this hotel is the quintessential Amsterdam property. It’s very much a base for those who like a classy intellectual atmosphere, since each of its guestrooms is decorated to reflect a different thinker or cultural theme.

The De Filosoof Hotel is housed within a number of late 19th century houses, which lends to the unsual shape and size of the rooms and public areas. The hotel is based on a theme, being great philosophers, therefore has a quirky and unique atmosphere. Each room is individually designed and based on a different philosopher, and are equipped with standard amenities. The hotel does not have a restaurant, though a buffet style breakfast is daily, while in the evenings guests can unwind in the bar with a drink. In the summer months guests can relax in the hotel's garden, or peruse the books in the library year round. This hotel is suited to those who enjoy the quirky things in life, without luxury being a priority.
