The Hotel De L Europe is an Amsterdam landmark, offering an exclusive blend of classical grandeur and modern comfort. Its ornate pastel-red and white façade dates back to the 19th century. The marble-floored lobby features an imposing chandelier and leads to the plush lounge, which is aglow with gold-trimmed ceiling coves and blackamoor lamps. The 100 guestrooms are furnished with reserved, classical elegance. The rooms facing the city are full of warm, rich colours, while those facing the river are in brilliant whites and have French windows. All the rooms have Victorian-style draperies as canopies over the beds and are kept in excellent condition, as are the en suite marble bathrooms. The hotel’s "Excelsior" restaurant is one of the most exclusive eateries in town, with ceiling frescoes, a piano and views over canal. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. "Le Relais" is a less formal setting for light lunches and dinners. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres are served daily in "Freddy's Bar" and in summer only on "La Terrasse", overlooking the Amstel, from 11.00am to 01.00am (weather permitting).
